Razer Kraken V3 Pro Review
Razer Kraken V3 Pro Software Downloads, Drivers, Manual – The Kraken V3 Pro is a new headset from Razer, and it’s identical to the Razer Kraken V3 HyperSense. These two gaming headsets share the same design, excellent audio features, comfort, and Triforce 50 mm drivers. The Kraken V3 Pro does have a slightly better microphone. As always, the word “Pro” on any Razer product means the best of the best features, which here primarily means wireless connectivity.
Kraken V3 Pro Design
The Razer Kraken V3 Pro uses Razer’s classic headset design, with large earcups looped over the ears. The ear pads are made of soft, thick memory foam lined with faux leather on the sides and breathable fabric for a surface that touches your head. The bottom of the headband is also wrapped in faux leather-covered memory foam, resulting in a snug fit, slightly warm but comfortable.
Most of the Kraken controls and connectors are available in the left earcup, including the volume wheel, mute microphone button, power button, detachable boom microphone connector, USB-C port for charging, and a 3.5mm port for using the headset in wired mode. On the right earcup is a HyperSense button that lets you activate the haptic feedback feature.
Kraken V3 Pro Features
There’s an RGB light on the back of each earcup, and it can be set to display various colors and lighting effects with Razer Synapse software. With the Razer Synapse software, you can adjust settings and activate multiple features, including THX Spatial Audio.
The USB receiver also works with the Nintendo Switch console in dock mode and with the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. The 3.5mm cable connection is compatible with any device, such as a headphone or headset jack, including the Xbox Wireless Controller connected to the Xbox and the Nintendo Switch in this mode. Handheld. The headset does not have Bluetooth connectivity.
The Kraken V3 Pro Headset comes with a haptic feedback feature called Hypersense, which converts sound into a rumble in each ear cup for another layer of immersion during gaming. This feature is only available when the headset is connected wirelessly and is disabled when connected via the 3.5mm jack. There are three settings for the haptic rumble: low, medium, and high.
With wireless mode, enabling HyperSense haptics and RGB lighting, you need a strong battery to keep things going. If you leave all those features turned on, the Kraken V3 Pro will only last 10-12 hours. If you turn off those haptics and lighting features, the headset will last longer at 44 hours, which is much more satisfying.
Price and Conclusion
Admittedly the Razer Kraken V3 Pro is the best headset from the Kraken family, with a hefty price tag of $199. While we disagree with the hefty price tag just for the addition of wireless capabilities and Hypersense haptics, it’s not bound by wires, plus a variety of compatible devices puts the V3 Pro.
It has everything I love about the standard V3, addresses issues I don’t like, and adds all the features of the entire product lineup. But with that comes some problems unique to the Pro, such as the inability to use the headset while charging.
